The attention of Management of Koforidua Technical University (KTU) has been drawn to media reports of arrests of some students of the University in relation to the production and sale of cannabis-infused drinks and ice cream during Hall Week celebrations, and the University wishes to respond as follows:

1. Koforidua Technical University Management wishes to confirm the arrests of ten (10) persons by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).
2. The arrests were made during Students’ Representative Council’s Week celebrations on Saturday, August 1, 2026, and not Hall Week Celebrations on Campus.
3. Management has visited the Affected Students at the National Headquarters of NACOC in
4. This move was possible after several inquiries at various Security Installations as to which of the Institutions had carried out the arrests.”
5. Seven (7) out of the ten (10) affected persons arrested are students of the University.
6. The Affected Students are in the custody of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) in Accra assisting in investigations.
7. The University condemns the alleged act of production and sale of Cannabis-infused drinks and ice cream said to have been committed without equivocation.
8. The University wishes to inform the general public that pursuant to Article 15 (vi) of the
9. Students’ Handbook of the University, it is an offence for students to involve themselves in such acts of misconduct.
10. Parents of affected students have been contacted and informed of the development. They have subsequently identified their wards alleged involved in the act.
11. Parents whose wards are pursuing various programmes of study at Koforidua Technical University should remain calm and not be agitated.
12. Management wishes to assure students, staff, parents, alumni and the general public that the University is co-operating fully with the relevant authorities as efforts continue to establish and verify the facts surrounding the matter and the University remains committed in upholding the highest standards of discipline, safety and institutional integrity.
13. Management wishes to inform the general publie to be guided by Artiele 19 (2) (e) of the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, 1992, that the affected students are presumed innocent until proven or pleaded guilty by a competent Court of Law.
14. Appropriate pronouncements would be made by the University after investigations are completed.
15. Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, all SRC activities have been banned until further notice, and a committee has been constituted to investigate the matter thoroughly and provide recommendation (s) to prevent any future occurrences.

Koforidua Technical University (KTU) has reaffirmed its commitment to producing competent and industry-ready healthcare professionals by organising an orientation programme for final-year students of the Faculty of Health and Allied Sciences ahead of their mandatory national service and internship.

The orientation, held on Tuesday, 21 July 2026, was organised in collaboration with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) to equip Level 400 students with the knowledge and practical guidance required for a smooth transition from academia to professional practice.

The programme brought together officials of the Allied Health Professions Council, faculty members, and graduating students to discuss the essential requirements for national service and internship. Participants received detailed information on professional registration, placement procedures, regulatory requirements, and the ethical and professional standards expected of allied health practitioners.

Speaking during the session, facilitators encouraged the students to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, accountability, and patient-centred care as they embark on the next phase of their careers. Students also had the opportunity to interact with the resource persons and seek clarification on issues relating to registration, deployment, and career development.

The Dean of the Faculty of Health and Allied Sciences commended the Allied Health Professions Council for its continued collaboration with the University in preparing students for professional practice. He noted that such engagements bridge the gap between academic training and the realities of the healthcare industry, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to serve with competence and confidence.

Koforidua Technical University (KTU) has officially released the timetable for the upcoming Resit Examination Session for students across all academic levels.

The resit examinations are intended for students who have registered to rewrite courses from the recently completed First Semester, as well as outstanding courses from previous semesters. The release of the timetable provides students with the opportunity to adequately prepare and make the necessary arrangements ahead of the examinations.

Students are advised to carefully review the timetable to confirm their examination dates, venues, and course schedules. Any discrepancies, clashes, omissions, or concerns should be reported promptly to the appropriate academic authorities for resolution before the commencement of the examinations.

The University also reminds students that only approved and registered First Semester resit courses will be examined during this session. Students are therefore encouraged to verify their registered courses and ensure they meet all examination requirements.

As preparations intensify, candidates are urged to revise thoroughly, adhere to examination regulations, and arrive at examination venues on time with the necessary identification and materials.

Koforidua Technical University (KTU) has chalked another significant achievement in innovation and research following the successful qualification of its project, “SkillsForge Lab: The Circular Engineering Simulator,” for Phase 1 of the Innovation Challenge 2026 organised by the Technology Consultancy Centre, International Centre for Innovation, Manufacturing, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (TCC-CIMET), a UNESCO Category 2 Centre for Engineering Education in Africa.

The official notification was contained in a letter dated July 2, 2026, informing the University that its project had successfully passed the initial assessment stage of the competition.

As part of the next phase, the project team has been invited to participate in a webinar scheduled for July 10, 2026, where participants will receive detailed guidance on the Phase 1 requirements and subsequent activities.

The SkillsForge Lab: The Circular Engineering Simulator is an innovative initiative designed to strengthen engineering education through simulation-based learning while promoting circular economy principles. The project seeks to equip learners with practical skills that encourage sustainable engineering solutions, resource efficiency, and technology-driven problem-solving.

The TCC-CIMET Innovation Challenge is a flagship programme that identifies and supports innovative ideas capable of addressing Africa’s socio-economic and industrial challenges through engineering, technology transfer, manufacturing, and entrepreneurship. TCC-CIMET operates as a UNESCO Category 2 Centre, advancing engineering education and innovation across the African continent.

The University’s progression to Phase 1 underscores KTU’s growing reputation as a hub for innovation, applied research, and entrepreneurship. It also reflects the institution’s commitment to developing solutions that contribute to sustainable industrial development and national transformation.

The Management of Koforidua Technical University (KTU) wishes to inform all Regular Students pursuing BTech, HND, Diploma, and Non-HND programmes that the provisional timetable for the End of Second Semester Examinations for the 2025/2026 Academic Year has been released.

Students are advised to carefully review the timetable and verify all details relating to their courses and examination schedules. This provisional version has been published to allow students, departments, and faculty members the opportunity to identify and report any discrepancies before the final timetable is issued.

The University encourages stakeholders to submit any concerns, including omissions, additions, corrections, scheduling conflicts, or any other issues requiring attention, to the Planning Office for review and necessary adjustments.

All feedback should be submitted promptly to ensure that corrections are incorporated into the final examination timetable before its official release.

Students are encouraged to take this exercise seriously and cooperate with the University in ensuring the accuracy and smooth implementation of the examination schedule.

Koforidua Technical University (KTU) and Cryochain Ghana Limited have expressed interest in a strategic alliance to develop a cold chain AgriTech and Applied Technology Ecosystem hub.

A stakeholders’ meeting was held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at KTU to discuss the framework of the project. Staff and students of the University participated in the discussions.

The proposed partnership will combine KTU’s technical expertise with Cryochain’s cold chain technology to reduce post-harvest losses, improve food security, and support agribusinesses in Ghana.

The project will focus on research, training, product development, and industry linkages to make cold chain technology more accessible and sustainable.

KTU and Cryochain Ghana Limited are expected to have further engagements to finalise the agreement.

The Computer Science Students Association of Ghana (COMPSSA), Koforidua Technical University Chapter has organized “The Horizon Summit – Leadership & Marketplace Readiness” which brought together academia and industry leaders to prepare students for leadership and career success in an increasingly competitive global economy.

The summit which was held on 7th July, 2026 under the theme “Architects of Tomorrow: Shaping the Future of Business, Industry, and Governance” at the Abba Bentil Andam Theater of Koforidua Technical University, created a platform for meaningful conversations on leadership, innovation, employability, and the evolving demands of today’s workplace. Students engaged with distinguished speakers who shared practical insights on career development, digital transformation, entrepreneurship, and the leadership competencies required to thrive across business, industry, and public service.

Speakers at the summit emphasized the importance of continuous learning, innovation, ethical leadership, collaboration, and industry relevance in preparing graduates for the world of work.
