Medical Examination

Medical Examination for Fresh Students

Medical Screening Requirement

As part of its commitment to promoting the health and well-being of students, Koforidua Technical University (KTU) requires all newly admitted students to undergo a compulsory medical examination before they can obtain their Student Identification (ID) Card and complete their registration process.

The medical examination is an important component of the admission and registration procedure and must be completed by every fresh student.

Purpose of the Medical Examination

The medical examination enables the University to:

  1. Assess the general health and fitness of students for academic life.
  2. Identify any medical conditions that may require special attention, accommodation, or support during studies.
  3. Promote the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff.
  4. Facilitate appropriate medical care and emergency response where necessary.
  5. Maintain a healthy learning environment within the University community.

Medical Examination Requirements

All newly admitted students are required to:

1. Report to the University Clinic

Students must report to the KTU Clinic on the date and time scheduled by the University. Information regarding the medical screening schedule will be communicated through official University channels.

2. Present Required Documents

Students should present the following documents during the examination:

  1. Admission Letter
  2. Admission Printout
  3. Valid National Identification Card (where applicable)
  4. Any other document requested by the University Clinic

3. Undergo Medical Screening

Students will be required to complete a comprehensive medical assessment, which may include:

  1. Measurement of vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight)
  2. General physical examination
  3. Vision and eye screening
  4. Urine examination
  5. Blood tests
  6. Chest X-ray (where required)
  7. Additional medical assessments recommended by the University's medical team

The scope of the examination may vary depending on medical findings and institutional requirements.

Student ID Card Requirement

Successful completion of the medical examination is a prerequisite for the processing and issuance of the KTU Student ID Card.

Students who have not completed the medical screening process may experience delays in obtaining their ID cards and accessing certain university services.

Important Guidelines

  1. Medical examinations are conducted exclusively by the KTU Clinic and authorized University health personnel.
  2. Medical reports from external hospitals, clinics, or healthcare providers are not accepted in place of the University's medical examination.
  3. Students are encouraged to attend their scheduled appointments promptly and cooperate fully with medical staff.
  4. Any relevant medical history or ongoing medical condition should be disclosed during the examination to enable appropriate support where necessary.
  5. All medical information provided by students will be treated with strict confidentiality in accordance with professional healthcare standards.

Failure to Complete the Medical Examination

Students who fail to complete the compulsory medical examination may:

  1. Be unable to complete their registration process.
  2. Experience delays in obtaining their Student ID Card.
  3. Be denied access to certain academic and administrative services until the requirement has been fulfilled.

Advice to Fresh Students

Students are strongly encouraged to undergo the medical examination as early as possible once scheduled. Early participation helps to avoid long queues, processing delays, and registration challenges during the academic year.

The University remains committed to supporting the health and well-being of all students and ensuring a safe and conducive environment for learning and personal development.
