International Programmes and Institutional Linkages (IPIL) Directorate

About IPIL

The International Programmes and Institutional Linkages (IPIL) Directorate is responsible for coordinating and supporting Koforidua Technical University's international relations, institutional partnerships, international student affairs, and external collaborations.

The Directorate provides information and support to current and prospective international students, establishes and strengthens links between the University and industry, and collaborates with local and international institutions in areas of applied research, innovation, and knowledge transfer.

IPIL also provides technical assistance to University staff and students on matters relating to international travel for academic, professional, research, and other official purposes.

The IPIL Directorate is headed by a Dean who reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor.

Key Functions

The key functions of the International Programmes and Institutional Linkages Directorate include:

1. Institutional Partnerships and Collaboration

IPIL scouts for credible institutions and organisations for potential collaboration and partnership. The Directorate:

  1. Identifies potential partner universities and institutions.
  2. Prepares and facilitates Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for academic, research, and industrial collaborations.
  3. Engages existing partners to strengthen institutional relationships.
  4. Identifies opportunities for joint programmes and activities that provide mutual benefits to KTU and its partners.

2. International Student Support

The Directorate provides information and support to current and prospective international students on matters including:

  1. Visa requirements.
  2. Residence permits.
  3. Programmes of study.
  4. Admission-related matters.
  5. Study and accommodation-related issues.
  6. Other matters relating to their academic experience at KTU.

3. Support for International Travel

IPIL provides technical assistance to University staff and students travelling abroad for:

  1. Further studies.
  2. Conferences and academic engagements.
  3. Research activities.
  4. Professional development.
  5. Official University assignments.
  6. Other approved academic and professional activities.

4. Hosting International Delegations

The Directorate coordinates and hosts visiting delegations from existing and prospective partner universities and institutions.

This includes planning programmes and activities for visiting delegations and facilitating engagements with relevant University authorities, faculties, departments, and units.

5. Sponsored International Travel

IPIL facilitates sponsored international trips for University staff members by assisting with arrangements such as:

  1. Flight bookings and ticket purchases.
  2. Hotel accommodation.
  3. Conference registration and fees.
  4. Other approved travel-related arrangements.

6. Institutional and Statutory Engagements

The Directorate undertakes other responsibilities as directed by the Vice-Chancellor and contributes to relevant University statutory meetings and activities upon invitation.
