Academic Calendar For 2025/2026 Academic Year, updated

The Second Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year begins with registration open to all students from 12th May to 12th July, 2026. Regular session students report on 22nd May, with lectures commencing on 25th May, 2026. Weekend session lectures begin on 29th May, 2026, the same date the Graduate School reopens and commences lectures.

Mid-Semester Examinations for all programmes are scheduled for 13th to 17th July, 2026, alongside Mock Examinations for DBS II, Engineering, Hospitality, and Pre-HND programmes. Practical Examinations run from 13th to 22nd July, 2026, while the Graduate School holds its Mid-Semester Examinations from 24th to 26th July, 2026.

End-of-semester examinations begin in August: Regular Session examinations run from 17th to 28th August, Weekend Session from 21st August to 6th September, and Graduate School Block II Examinations from 21st to 30th August, 2026.

Vacation & Industrial Attachment

Regular Session vacation commences on 28th August, Weekend Session and Graduate School on 6th September, 2026. Industrial Attachment follows from 7th to 25th September, 2026. The 13th Applied Research Conference is scheduled for 28th September–1st October, 2026.

Consideration of Results

Final Year and Graduate School results will be processed through departmental and faculty board meetings in October 2026, with the Academic Board meeting and publication of results on 23rd October, 2026. Results for continuing students (1st–2nd Year) will be published on 8th December 2026.

Re-Sit Examinations

Re-sit examinations for final year students are scheduled for 30th October to 1st November, 2026. Re-sit examinations for continuing students will take place from 18th January to 7th February, 2027.

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR FOUR (4) YEAR B.TECH. PROGRAMMES

i. SSSCE Applicants

Passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects, namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science; and must possess three (3) passes (A-D) in relevant elective subjects. The cumulative aggregate must be 24 or better.

ii. WASSCE Applicants

Credit passes (A1-C6) in three core subjects, namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies; and must possess three (3) credit passes (A1-C6) in three relevant elective subjects. The cumulative aggregate must be thirty-six (36) or better.

iii. GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Applicants
Applicants must possess six (6) GCE ‘O’ Level passes, including English Language, Mathematics and General Science, plus three (3) GCE ‘A’ Level passes in the relevant courses.

iv. Applicants from Technical Institutions

  • Applicants from Technical Institutes must possess passes in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science, plus passes in relevant elective courses.
  • Applicants from Technical Institutes with the requisite elective passes without passes in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science may be admitted to a two (2)-month intensive bridging (pre-degree) programme before formal admission to their programmes of choice after passing a selection examination.

v. Applicants with Technician Certificates

  • Applicants with passes in Motor Vehicle Technicians II (MVT II) may also be considered for admission and will be enrolled at Level 200.
  • Applicants with passes in Motor Vehicle Technicians III (MVT III) may also be considered for admission and will be enrolled at Level 300.
  • At least Part II and III Technician Certificate Holders in EET or Radio & Television or
  • Telecommunication Technician plus English, Mathematics and Science or
  • EET II or Radio & Television Technician II or
  • Telecommunication Technician II with passes in English, Mathematics & Science at the SSSCE/WASSCE level.

vi. HND Applicants

  • HND graduates with the requisite specialization will enroll at level 300.
  • HND graduates with requisite specialization will enroll at level 200 (Mechatronics)
  • Applicants with a University Diploma in the relevant subjects will enroll at level 300.
  • Ordinary Technical Diploma (OTD) will enroll at level 200.

vii. Applicants with DBS Certificates

  • Applicants with DBS Certificates must possess credit passes in Four (4) WASSCE subjects, including English Language and Mathematics
  • Holders of DBS Marketing, DBS Purchasing and Supply and DBS Secretaryship may be enrolled at Level 200 on the respective B.Tech. Programmes.

viii. Mature Applicants

  • Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old and must show proof of age with a birth certificate and/or Ghana Card.
  • Must have five (5) years of working experience in the relevant discipline
  • Applicants must be holders of either:
  • SSSCE Candidates: A minimum of “E” in six (6) subjects, comprising three (3) core subjects (including English Language and Mathematics) and three (3) relevant elective subjects.

  • WASSCE Candidates: Passes (A1-D7) in three (3) core subjects, namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies; and must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization.
  • Alternatively, SSSCE/WASSCE Applicants with passes (A-D)/(A1-C6) in three core subjects, namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies; and a minimum of D/C6 in any two (2) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization are eligible to apply.

ii. GBCE/ ‘O’/A’LEVEL/ABCE APPLICANTS

  • Five (5) GBCE /GCE ‘O’-Level credit passes (including English Language and Mathematics) plus at least two (2) GCE ‘A’ level/ABCE passes excluding General Paper.

iii. APPLICANTS FROM TECHNICAL SCHOOLS (CERTIFICATE II APPLICANTS)

  • Applicants must have passes in three (3) subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects/trade courses.

iv. APPLICANTS WITH DBS

  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes, including English and Mathematics, plus at least three (3) passes in relevant DBS subjects.

v. APPLICANTS WITH TEACHER’S CERTIFICATE.

  • Applicant must have a Three-Year Post-Secondary Certificate or Four-Year Certificate ‘A’ with a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience, plus three (3) GCE O-Level or SSSCE/WASSCE passes in relevant elective subjects.

vi. Mature Applicants

  • Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old and must show proof of age with a birth certificate and/or Ghana Card.
  • Must have five (5) years of working experience in the relevant discipline

i. Diploma in Food Innovation and Product Design

i) Holders of SSSCE/WASSCE or Equivalent qualifications (Three (3) credit passes (A-D or A1 – D7) in core subjects i.e. English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science, plus two (2) credit passes (A-D or A1 – D7) in relevant subjects as follows:

  • Chemistry, Biology and Physics/Elective Mathematics)
  • General Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Crop Husbandry, Chemistry and Physics/Elective Mathematics/Biology
  • Food and Nutrition, Management in living, Biology and Chemistry.

ii) GCE A/O LEVEL APPLICANTS (Five (5) GCE “O” Level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture plus two GCE “A” Level passes in any two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agriculture)
iii) Foreign students may be admitted based on qualifications from their home country, for which the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) shall determine equivalences and eligibility.
iv) Mature Applicants
Must be at least 25 years old and a Science/Agricultural/Home Economics graduate. Must work for at least two years in an agricultural or related field. Must show proof of credit passes in English Language and Mathematics in SSSCE/WASSCE. Must show proof of date of birth with any national document, which is at least 5 years old at the time

  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes (including English, Mathematics plus Elective Mathematics or Physics) Or
  • Four (4) GCE O-Level passes (including English Language and Mathematics, Additional Mathematics or Physics)

3. Certificate II in Fashion Design and Textiles: 2 Years

  • Passes in SSSCE/WASSCE/GBCE/’O’ Level subjects.
  • National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) Fashion Certificate Grade I or Grade II or equivalent.

4. Advanced Fashion Design and Textiles: 2 Years

  • Holders of City and Guilds Certificate in Fashion & Designing (Dressmaking and Tailoring) Or
  • Intermediate Dressmaking/Fashion Certificate plus at least one (1) year relevant practical experience Or
  • Four (4) passes in SSSCE/WASSCE subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and any other elective subjects plus basic knowledge and skills in Dressmaking Or
  • Four (4) passes in GCE ‘O’ Level, including English Language, Mathematics plus knowledge in Dressmaking.

5. Construction Technician Certificate (CTC) Part I

  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes, including English, Mathematics and Technical Drawing.
  • Technical Construction option Subjects: Craft (B/C, C/J, P/D, and Plumbing) and Advanced (B/C, C/J, P/D, and Plumbing.)
  • Passes in General Course in Construction (GCC)

6. Electrical Engineering Technician (EET) Part I

  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English, Mathematics and Science and any two of the following – Applied Electricity/Electronics, Physics, Mathematics.

7. Catering Certificate II – 2 years

  • Passes in relevant SSSCE/WASSCE/GBCE/ GCE O-Level subjects.
  • NVTI Grade II or JHS Certificate with working experience.

8. Certificate in Draughtsmanship

  • JHS Certificate with working experience

F) PRE-HND PROGRAMME

The Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) has designed an access course for Technical/Vocational Institute graduates into HND Programmes.

Duration – One (1) academic year (i.e. Two (2) semesters of sixteen (16) weeks per semester)
Note: Candidates would be required to obtain at least fifty percent (50%) in each of the three (3) subjects, namely: English Language, Mathematics and Science.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. i. Technical/Vocational Applicants who have deficiencies in their Core Courses
  2. ii. Applicants must have a minimum of Craft Course Or
  3. iii. Applicants must have MET I, MVT I and EET I or its equivalent Or
  4. iv. Applicants should have a minimum qualification of Intermediate or Craft Certificate or its equivalent from a recognised examination body. For Hospitality Management, applicants must have Cookery 812/2.

G) MODE OF APPLICATION

1. To apply, applicants must purchase an online admission voucher from any of the following banks nationwide: Ghana Commercial Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, Universal Merchant Bank, Fidelity Bank, Republic Bank, and Zenith Bank. Publication of Examination Malpractice Sanctions – 2024/2025 Academic Year

Koforidua Technical University (KTU) takes the integrity of its academic processes with the utmost seriousness. In accordance with the University’s Examination Regulations and the provisions of its Academic Policy Framework, the Office of the Registrar hereby gives public notice of students found culpable of examination malpractice during the Second Semester Examinations of the 2024/2025 Academic Year.

All reported cases were subjected to a thorough and impartial investigation by the University’s Examination Malpractice Committee, in strict compliance with established institutional regulations and examination policies. Affected students were formally notified of the outcomes of these investigations and given due opportunity to respond to the charges levelled against them before sanctions were applied.

Sanctions Applied (Uniform Across All Cases)

  1. Cancellation of the examination paper in which the malpractice was committed
  2. Rustication for one (1) full academic year, effective immediately
  3. Mandatory signing of a Bond of Good Behaviour prior to resumption of studies

All sanctioned students are expected to resume academic work at the commencement of the First Semester of the 2026/2027 Academic Year, subject to the fulfilment of the conditions stipulated above. Failure to comply with any of these conditions may result in further disciplinary action, up to and including permanent withdrawal from the University.
