KTU Partners With Spanish Embassy To Launch “Seamstress 2.0” Fashion And Culture Project At Koforidua Technical University

KTU Partners with the Spanish Embassy to launch a fashion and culture project headlined “Seamstresses 2.0: Between Threads and Cultures: Spain and Ghana” at KTU campus on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

The project was launched by the Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Ángel Lossada Torres-Quevedo and the Vice Chancellor of Koforidua Technical University (KTU), Prof. John Owusu.

The purpose of “Seamstresses 2.0” project is to fuse garments of Ghanaian and Spanish orientation to bring together the fashion and cultures of both countries.

Following the launch, lecturers and industry experts from May 18 -21, 2026 will guide students in KTU’s Department of Fashion and Textiles/Graphic Design to blend clothes and accessories that combines ideas from both countries. The designs will reflect shared heritage alongside new and modern styles.

The work will be presented at an exhibition during the “Spanish Feria” on Thursday, May 21, 2026. The event, which celebrates food, music, and culture, will be held at the Spanish Ambassador’s residence in Accra.

The launch of the “Seamstresses 2.0” project by H.E. Ángel Lossada Torres-Quevedo marks the beginning of a new partnership between KTU and the Spanish High Commission. The goal is to build student skills, strengthen ties between the two institutions, and deepen cultural understanding between Ghana and Spain.

Present at the launch were Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Richard Ohene Asiedu, Registrar, Evelyn Fafa Adom, and Director of Finance, Rev. Prince Baffour-Ofori.

They were joined by Deans, Directors, Deputy Registrars, Administrators, and Students.
