KTU Sweeps Multiple Awards in STEM Research at ARCTUG 2026

Koforidua Technical University (KTU) made a strong showing at the 2026 Applied Research Conference of Technical Universities in Ghana (ARCTUG), clinching multiple awards at the event which took place in Takoradi on May 25-29, 2026.

ARCTUG provides a national platform for Ghana’s Technical Universities to showcase applied STEM research and innovations that address real-world challenges.

KTU’s research and innovation drive took the center stage at this year’s conference as three teaching staff received top honours, while the University earned a Certificate of Recognition for its participation in the TUs Innovation Challenge, highlighting the University’s commitment to practical, industry-focused solutions.

The Director of Research and Innovation of KTU, Prof. Samuel Kwoffie, led the awardees to make an official presentation of their awards to the University Management.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Owusu, on his part, commended the team for the feat they had accomplished noting that the recognition does not only boost KTU’s profile as a hub for innovation in STEM and applied fields, but  should inspire more faculty and students to push research that impacts industry and communities in the Eastern Region and beyond.

Present at the short ceremony were the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Richard Ohene Asiedu, Registrar, Evelyn Fafa Adom, Director of Finance, Rev. Prince Baffuor Ofori, University Librarian, Dr. Edward Asante and Deputy Director of Works, Claire Owusu.

The list of award winners and corresponding categories received by KTU are as follows:

  1. Dr. Albert Adu-Sackey – Best Research Paper in STEM
  2. Mr. Isaac Tornyi – Best Research Paper in Digital Marketing
  3. Dr. Victor Curtis Lartey – Best Research Paper in Engineering Management
  4. Certificate of Recognition to KTU for participating in the TUs Innovation Challenge
