Professional Profile

Pln. Prof. Samuel Kwofie is a Planning Analyst trained from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana and has over 23 years’ experience in planning-related activities, which includes Governance and Management, Statistical Modelling, lecturing, Grants Proposal Writing, Local Governance, Water and Sanitation issues and organisational development.

He has extensive experience with local and civil society organisations with comprehensive knowledge in both developing and developed country contexts. He has tremendous credentials in the use of Participatory Methodologies and Goal-Oriented Project Planning (GOPP) in his deliverables.

He has been actively involved in the District/Local level planning, training of opinion leaders and strategic planning. Prof. Kwofie since 2018 to date, has coordinated the evaluation of Vaccine Derived Poliovirus Type 1 and 2 (cVDPV1/2) in the Eastern Region of Ghana that was sponsored by the World Bank, Bill and Melinda Gate, Global Polio Eradication Initiative, Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service, UNICEF, CDC, Rotary Club and few others. Prof. Kwofie is the Faculty Advisor for the implementation of Kosmos Innovation Centre’s (KIC) projects in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

His current research interest looks at immigration issues, food security, natural resources and environmental governance and child labour-related issues.
He was also actively involved during the review of the Ghana Poverty Reduction Strategy I (GPRS 1), which led to the collapse of the five thematic areas into three in the Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy (GPRS II). He was also involved in the gender mainstreaming of the GPRS II.

Prof. Kwofie managed the implementation of the Second Urban Environmental Sanitation Project (UESP II) for the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, which was sponsored by the Nordic Development Fund. He drew the Strategic Planning for Nzema East and Mpohor Wassa Mutual Health Insurance Schemes, which was sponsored by the Netherlands Development Organisation (SNV).
