Koforidua Technical University (KTU) has initiated a competence-based training program specifically focused on Metal Inert Gas (MIG) and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding techniques. This program targets artisans who are members of the Eastern Region Branch of the Ghana National Association of Garages (GNAG). The training aims to enhance the skills and technical knowledge of these artisans, empowering them to adopt advanced welding techniques and improve the quality of their work. By focusing on competence-based training, KTU ensures that participants gain practical hands-on experience, enabling them to meet industry standards and increase their employability within the automotive and manufacturing sectors.

This initiative is being supported by the Ghana Skills Development Fund (GSDF), a program designed to foster skills development and capacity building in various sectors across the country. The GSDF’s involvement highlights the government’s commitment to promoting technical and vocational education and training (TVET) as a means of boosting economic growth. By partnering with KTU, the GSDF is ensuring that artisans receive the necessary training and resources to remain competitive in an evolving job market. This collaboration underscores the importance of continuous skill development in driving innovation and improving the livelihoods of workers in the Eastern Region.
