KTU Empowers Academic Staff with AMIS Training Workshop

On Wednesday, 2 July 2025, the Quality Assurance Directorate of Koforidua Technical University (KTU) held a one-day training workshop aimed at enhancing staff proficiency in the Accreditation Management Information System (AMIS). The event, which commenced at 9:00 a.m. at the university’s e-library, was conducted under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Owusu, and facilitated by two experts from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

Purpose and Objectives

The primary objective of the workshop was to equip teaching staff with the necessary skills to implement and manage the AMIS platform effectively. Specifically, the training sought to:

  • Provide hands-on guidance on the implementation of AMIS.
  • Enhance participants’ technical understanding of the system’s functionalities.

Training Highlights

Participants were introduced to several key components of the AMIS, including:

  • The registration process and user setup
  • Administrator responsibilities such as uploading staff data and assigning system privileges
  • Navigating the dashboard for real-time updates
  • Uploading accreditation and re-accreditation questionnaires
  • Managing invoices and payment interfaces
  • Monitoring system-generated notices
  • Responding to feedback from accreditation panels

Despite intermittent internet connectivity, the workshop was marked by active engagement and practical demonstrations, allowing participants to gain firsthand experience with the digital platform.

Conclusion and Recommendations

The Quality Assurance Directorate concluded the session by recommending that all Heads of Department and their respective teams begin utilizing the AMIS platform for accreditation-related activities. This move is expected to streamline processes and ensure compliance with national standards set by GTEC.
