Important Notice: Migration from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365

As part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing the digital experience for both students and staff, the university is embarking on a migration from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365 services. This migration is a crucial step in aligning our systems with the Government’s Smart School solution for tertiary education in Ghana.

The Smart School solution, powered by Microsoft Office 365, promises to revolutionize the way we learn, teach, collaborate, and perform administrative roles. By transitioning to Microsoft 365, we aim to reduce costs and significantly increase productivity for both students and staff. This migration will grant every member of our community access to free email, intranet portals, online document editing and storage, instant messaging, web conferencing, document management, search functionalities, workflows, and much more.

Please note the following details regarding the migration:

  • Migration Dates: The email migration process will occur from Wednesday, 27th December 2023, to Wednesday, 3rd January 2024.
  • Impact: During this period, access to university email services will be temporarily unavailable until the migration is completed. Please plan accordingly.

The migration will follow this sequence:

  1. First Migration: Office Official emails migration
  2. Second Migration: All Staff email migration
  3. Final Migration: Student Emails migration

This migration process is designed to seamlessly move your contacts, emails, attachments, folders, and calendars from your old mailbox to the new Microsoft 365 environment. Importantly, your existing email address—one that includes your domain name (e.g., me@ktu.edu.gh)—will remain unchanged.

Once the migration is finalized, we will promptly notify the university community and provide detailed instructions on how to activate your email accounts on Outlook.

We understand that any change of this magnitude may raise questions or concerns. Therefore, we will ensure support channels are available to assist with any queries or issues you might encounter during or after the migration process.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this transition. Rest assured, this migration is a significant step towards providing a more robust digital ecosystem that will benefit us all.

For any inquiries or assistance, please contact the ICT Directorate at support@ktu.edu.gh or call 0342293596.
