The Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (GI-KACE) has entered into a partnership with Koforidua Technical University (KTU), formalized by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration is part of GI-KACE’s mission to expand digital skills training in the Eastern Region.

During the MoU signing ceremony at KTU, Ing. Dr. Collins Yeboah-Afari, Director General of GI-KACE, expressed his excitement about the partnership. He highlighted that this agreement would support the eSkills4Jobs initiative in the Eastern Region, contributing to Ghana’s digital transformation goals under the Ghana Digital Acceleration Project (GDAP).

“The eSkills4Jobs initiative is designed to create a robust ecosystem to prepare Ghana’s workforce for the digital economy. This MoU allows GI-KACE to team up with KTU to deliver training programs focused on digital skills and capacity building in the region,” he said.

Prof. John Owusu, Vice Chancellor of KTU, also shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that the eSkills4Jobs program will offer substantial benefits to young people and local residents in the Eastern Region. He emphasized that the introduction of practical digital skills training aims to empower students and drive local economic development through a digitally savvy workforce.

With a history spanning over 20 years, GI-KACE has played a key role in closing the digital skills gap, providing ICT education to both rural and urban communities across Ghana. It already has a presence in the Bono-Sunyani, Upper West-Bolga, and Greater Accra regions. This MoU is a significant step toward expanding digital skills training nationwide, equipping students and local communities with essential skills.

The signing event was attended by notable figures including Frederick Yeboah, Director of Research and Innovation at GI-KACE; Kobi Hemaa Osisiadan-Bekoe, Director of Corporate Affairs at GI-KACE; Evelyn Fafa Adom, Registrar at KTU; Dr. Edward Asante, University Librarian at KTU; Dr. Frank Agyei Dwomoh, Dean of International Programs and Institutional Linkages at KTU; Franklin Odoom, Deputy Registrar in charge of the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat at KTU; and Emmanuel Opoku Debrah, Head of ICT.
