Mandatory Medical Examination for All First-Year Students – 2025/2026 Academic Year

All first-year students are required to undergo a mandatory medical examination at the University Clinic in accordance with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook (Article 32b).

In this regard, all first-year students are to take note of the following details and comply accordingly:

Date: Monday, 9th February – Monday, 16th March, 2026
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Venue: University Clinic

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Medical examination is compulsory for all first-year students. Students who fail to undergo the medical examination within the stipulated period shall forfeit their student status.

The attached timetable must be strictly adhered to, and no excuses shall be entertained.

All concerned students are advised to comply promptly.

KTU Enters Strategic Partnership with ILSMA for Leadership Development

Koforidua Technical University (KTU) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Institute of Leadership and Strategic Management—Africa (ILSMA) to provide practical training and strategic leadership development opportunities for professionals and emerging graduates.

The collaboration is aimed at equipping practitioners, administrators, directors, managers, and young graduates with relevant leadership and management skills required to effectively navigate today’s dynamic professional and organizational environments. Through this partnership, both institutions seek to bridge the gap between theory and practice while promoting excellence in leadership and strategic decision-making.

Under the partnership arrangement, KTU and ILSMA will jointly offer certificate programmes in diverse fields, including law, business, health and safety, and marketing, among others. These programmes will be delivered at a competitive cost and are designed to meet the evolving needs of individuals and organizations across various sectors.

In line with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the University campus, the two institutions have also committed to developing and delivering customised short courses at all levels of professional development. These courses are intended to enhance the leadership capabilities of participants while contributing meaningfully to organizational growth and national development in Ghana.

The partnership underscores KTU’s innovative and forward-looking approach to addressing local, national, and global challenges through capacity building, industry collaboration, and practical skills development.

FAST Organises Orientation Programme for Newly Admitted Undergraduate Students

The Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST) of Koforidua Technical University, on January 27, 2026, successfully organized a one-day Orientation Programme for students newly admitted to pursue various undergraduate programmes within the Faculty.

The orientation programme, which was structured into two interactive sessions, was designed to formally welcome Level 100 students and acquaint them with the academic environment of the University. The sessions focused on providing detailed information on academic requirements, examination rules and regulations, as well as effective study practices expected of students in the Faculty. In addition, participants were introduced to the University’s campus layout and the range of student support services available to assist them throughout their academic journey.

Addressing the students, Professor Joseph Osei, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology, encouraged them to remain disciplined, committed, and focused on their studies. He urged the students to take full advantage of the academic and support systems available to them and to work diligently towards achieving their academic and career goals.

The orientation programme marked an important first step in integrating the new students into university life and reaffirmed the Faculty’s commitment to nurturing academically competent and responsible graduates.

KTU Explores New Pathways for Societal Impact in Two-Day Academic Workshop

Koforidua Technical University (KTU) successfully organised a two-day academic workshop for members of the University community under the theme “Repositioning African Universities for Societal Impact: Community-Led, Agenda-Driven Education, Research and Practice.” The workshop was held on the University’s main campus from January 22 to January 23, 2026, and formed part of KTU’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its academic and research mandate in line with national and continental development priorities.

The workshop provided a strategic platform for academic staff, researchers, and administrators to engage in in-depth discussions on how African universities can reposition themselves as key drivers of societal transformation through responsive teaching, impactful research, and community-centred practice. Participants explored innovative approaches to aligning academic activities with the real needs of society while promoting sustainable development and knowledge co-creation.

The workshop was facilitated by Prof. Ushotanefe Useh, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at North-West University, South Africa. In his presentations and interactive sessions, Prof. Useh emphasised the importance of strengthening research capacity, fostering interdisciplinary and cross-institutional collaboration, and building sustainable academic partnerships. He also highlighted opportunities for deepening institutional linkages between Koforidua Technical University and North-West University, particularly in the areas of joint research, staff development, and academic exchange programs.

Overall, the workshop reinforced KTU’s commitment to advancing agenda-driven education and research that directly contributes to societal development, while also strengthening international collaboration to enhance the University’s global academic footprint.

Students are advised to carefully check the timetable for their respective courses and take note of the dates, time, and venues scheduled for each paper.

All candidates are required to:

  • Ensure they have registered and are eligible for the resit examinations.
  • Adhere strictly to the examination rules and regulations.
  • Be seated at the examination venue at least 30 minutes before the commencement of each paper.

Chancellor Ensures Robust Practical Training Through Strategic Equipment Donation

The Chancellor of Koforidua Technical University, Nana Kwesi Boama (Kwesi Eduafo Yankey), has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the university’s technical programmes by donating essential equipment to support hands-on education. The presentation took place on campus on 13 January, underscoring his dedication to ensuring that academic offerings remain well‑equipped and industry‑ready.

Donation Details
The gifts directed to the Departments of Fashion and Automotive Engineering include:

  • Manual and electric sewing machines
  • Auto-mechanic tool kits
  • Auto-electrical tool kits
  • General electrical tool kits
  • Spray gun

These resources aim to enhance the practical training environment and equip students with real-world skills.

During the handover, Vice‑Chancellor Professor John Owusu thanked the Chancellor for his foresight and generosity. He described the donation as “a vital investment in the university’s capacity to blend theoretical knowledge with practical application.” According to the Vice‑Chancellor, the new equipment will “bridge the gap between classroom instruction and industry expectations.”
