KTU Alumni Association, Eastern Regional Chapter, Elects New Executives

In a beautiful and inspiring ceremony held at the Koforidua Technical University (KTU) Campus, the Eastern Regional Chapter of the KTU Alumni Association elected a new team of executives to steer its affairs. The event, which took place on June 24, 2025, brought together alumni from various year groups, university officials, and national leaders of the association.

The ceremony was graced by key national figures of the KTU Alumni Association, including the National President, the National Secretary, and the Alumni Relations Officer of the University. Their presence added prestige and reaffirmed the importance of the Eastern Regional Chapter in the national alumni structure.

The following alumni were elected to serve in various leadership positions:

  • Vice Chairman – Samuel Abeyengah
  • Secretary – Dr. Sheiks Mumuni
  • Assistant Secretary – Peter Ayeh Gyampoh
  • Financial Secretary – Prince Annor Amofa
  • Assistant Financial Secretary – Harriet Oduraa Anyan
  • Organizer – Seth Appiah
  • Assistant Organizer – Charles Dakudji
  • Communications/PRO – Daniel Mbimah

The newly inaugurated executives have been given a clear mandate: to reorganize the regional chapter, activate year groups, and initiate meaningful development projects that benefit both alumni and the university. The emphasis is on fostering unity, networking, and shared responsibility among graduates of the institution.

Speaking on behalf of the new executives, Chairman Dr. Eric Kofi Boadi expressed appreciation to the alumni community for their trust and pledged a leadership style rooted in transparency, innovation, and inclusiveness. He called on all year groups to rally behind the new leadership to bring about a vibrant and united alumni community.

The National President and Alumni Relations Officer both commended the Eastern Regional Chapter for its organizational strength and called for stronger collaboration between the regions and the national body. They emphasized that a well-organized alumni association is critical to the university’s growth and its external influence.

As the Eastern Regional Chapter enters this new phase, there is renewed hope that its activities will set a precedent for other chapters and contribute meaningfully to the progress of Koforidua Technical University.

Koforidua Technical University Wins Kosmos Innovation Center Agritech Challenge

Meldak Agro, a start-up from Koforidua Technical University (KTU), has been named one of the winners of the Kosmos Innovation Centre (KIC) AgriTech Challenge Pro. This initiative, supported by the Mastercard Foundation, aims to promote innovation in agriculture.

After participating in capacity-building programs and product development phases, and undergoing a rigorous selection process, Meldak Agro received seed funding of $10,000.

Prior to the final award, both Meldak Agro and Bigfoot, another start-up from KTU, received $2,000 each to develop their Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the Technical Team led by Prof. Samuel Kwofie presented the award to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor John Owusu. Professor Owusu expressed his excitement at the teams’ achievements and encouraged them to strive for greater heights. He also thanked the Technical Team for their support and contributions.

Koforidua Technical University Honored as Academic Institution of the Year by CISCM

Koforidua Technical University (KTU) has been recognised as the Academic Institution of the Year 2024 by the Chartered Institute of Supply Chain Management (CISCM), a testament to the university’s commitment to excellence in academia and innovation in supply chain management.

The recognition, officially communicated in a letter dated February 28, 2025, was awarded in acknowledgement of KTU’s exemplary use of Integrated Supply Chain Management (ISCM) ideals and its agile management systems, which have significantly enhanced institutional performance both academically and administratively.

In the citation presented by CISCM, the Governing Council commended KTU’s tenacity and strategic approach in embedding ISCM practices across its operations and academic programs. The statement emphasised that these efforts have led to high levels of corporate performance, distinguishing the university among its peers.

“Please accept the congratulations of the Governing Council of CISCM for this remarkable achievement,” the citation reads. “We look forward to collaborating with you to advocate and propagate the use of the ideals and practices of Integrated Supply Chain Management for effective, sustainable, and inclusive socio-economic growth and development of Ghana and Africa.”

This prestigious award highlights KTU’s role as a leader in promoting academic excellence and industry-relevant education. The university remains committed to fostering innovation, research, and practical skills that respond to the dynamic needs of today’s supply chain and logistics sectors.

The award was officially presented to the university on April 5, 2025, jointly signed by the President of CISCM and the Executive Director – Professional Development.
