PROF. RICHARD ARTHUR APPOINTED DAAD RESEARCH AMBASSADOR FOR EASTERN REGION, GHANA

Koforidua Technical University (KTU) is proud to announce the appointment of Prof. Richard Arthur, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering as the DAAD Research Ambassador for the Eastern Region of Ghana from 2025 to 2027.

The formal appointment was made during a prestigious ceremony held in Accra on Monday, May 26, 2025. The ceremony was honoured by the presence of Honorable Haruna Iddrisu, the Minister of Education, who commended the DAAD’s commitment to strengthening academic collaboration across the sub-region.

The DAAD Research Ambassador initiative is a distinguished program that recognizes accomplished scholars who have conducted research in Germany and are passionate about promoting German research opportunities.

As an ambassador, Prof. Arthur will serve a two (2)-year term, as a liaison between the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and the academic community in Ghana, particularly in the Eastern Region.

In his role, Prof. Arthur will raise awareness among students, academics, and researchers about the vast opportunities for research in Germany, including avenues for project funding, academic exchange, and international collaboration. He will also support peers and institutions in initiating research partnerships with German counterparts.

This appointment follows Prof. Arthur’s participation in a DAAD Research Ambassadors Training Workshop held on Friday, April 25, 2025, in Accra. The intensive, full-day event brought together around twelve (12) selected participants from Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon, all of whom have a history of research engagement in Germany.

As the DAAD Research Ambassador based at Koforidua Technical University (KTU), Prof. Arthur will serve as a central figure in facilitating academic exchange and research cooperation between the University and German institutions.

His appointment not only highlights his personal academic achievements but also marks an important milestone in ongoing efforts to internationalise research and academic collaboration in the University.
