Pre-HND

Pre-HND is a one-year certificate programme offered in the Department of General Studies, Faculty of Business and Management Studies. Teaching is in the Regular (morning) session.

It is hands-on from the first term and leads to a recognised certificate. It is also a recognised way in to a Higher National Diploma.

The Pre-HND programme is an access course designed by the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) for Technical and Vocational Institute graduates entering HND programmes. It runs for one (1) academic year of two (2) semesters of sixteen (16) weeks each.

It is open to Technical/Vocational applicants who have deficiencies in their core courses and who hold one of the following:

• A minimum of a Craft Course; or
• MET I, MVT I and EET I or an equivalent; or
• A minimum qualification of an Intermediate or Craft Certificate, or its equivalent from a recognised examination body. Applicants for Hospitality Management must have Cookery 812/2.

Note: candidates are required to obtain at least fifty percent (50%) in each of the three subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Science.
