HND Fashion Design and Textiles

HND Fashion Design and Textiles is a three-year Higher National Diploma programme offered in the Department of Fashion Design and Textiles, Faculty of Applied Science and Technology. You can take it in either the Regular (morning) or the Weekend session.

The programme is built around practical competence and includes supervised industrial attachment. When you finish you can go straight into work, or top up to a Bachelor of Technology degree here.

SSSCE / WASSCE applicants

• SSSCE: Passes (A–D) in three (3) core subjects, namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies, and a minimum of D in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialisation.
• WASSCE: Passes (A1–D7) in three (3) core subjects, namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies, and a minimum of C6 in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialisation.
• Alternatively, passes (A–D)/(A1–C6) in the three core subjects and a minimum of D/C6 in any two (2) of the passes relevant to the area of specialisation.

GBCE / GCE ‘O’ / ‘A’ Level / ABCE applicants

Five (5) GBCE/GCE ‘O’ Level credit passes (including English Language and Mathematics) plus at least two (2) GCE ‘A’ Level or ABCE passes, excluding General Paper.

Applicants from technical schools (Certificate II)

Passes in three (3) subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects or trade courses.

Teacher’s Certificate

A Three-Year Post-Secondary Certificate or a Four-Year Certificate ‘A’ with a minimum of two (2) years’ teaching experience, plus three (3) GCE O-Level or SSSCE/WASSCE passes in relevant elective subjects.

Mature applicants

• Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old and show proof of age with a Birth Certificate and/or Ghana Card.
• Applicants must have five (5) years of working experience in the relevant discipline.
• Applicants must hold either a minimum of “E” in six (6) SSSCE subjects, or a minimum of “E8” in six (6) WASSCE subjects, in each case comprising three (3) core subjects (including English Language and Mathematics) and three (3) relevant elective subjects.
• Applicants must pass a written test in English Language, Mathematics and General Knowledge conducted by Koforidua Technical University.
