The Bachelor of Technology in Welding and Fabrication Engineering programme is a four-year programme designed to train professionals in the Welding and Fabrication sector of Ghana. Welding and fabrication Engineering have been the back-bone for infrastructural development and industrialization for most developed countries towards socio-economic advancement. Since Ghana is a developing country, specialization in welding and fabrication is an important requirement for industrialization.

However, Ghana and most countries in Africa lack capacity in the welding and fabrication sector, therefore, compelling the oil and gas industries, automotive, construction and manufacturing industries to bring in foreign welding experts to fill the gaps. The need to build capacity in the welding and fabrication sector cannot therefore be over-emphasized.

Industry needs personnel who are versatile to delivery to specifications in this highly sensitive sector. This requires not only hands on skills, but also sound theoretical knowledge in the field. Training of personnel in the welding and fabrication industry should meet these demands.
