Prof. Richard Ohene Asiedu is currently an Associate Professor in Projects Contracts Management at the Building Technology Department at Koforidua Technical University. He is an experienced academic and university administrator who has risen through the ranks as a lecturer since the year 2009.
Prior to his appointment as the Pro Vice-Chancellor in 2023, he served as Director for Quality Assurance and Academic Planning (2022 -2023), Acting Director of Works and Physical Development (2019 -2022), Dean of Faculty of Built and Natural Environment (2020 – 2022), Head of Department of Building Technology (2018-2019), Academic Board Representative for Faculty of Engineering (2010-2012) and Faculty Liaison Officer (2012). He has also participated in the governance of Koforidua Technical University through his service on several statutory and ad hoc boards and committees.
He attended Pope John Senior Secondary School and holds a Bachelor Degree in Building Technology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (2000- 2004) where he won the coveted ABBAM Award instituted by the Ghana Institution of Surveyors as the best student, Master Degree in Infrastructure Planning from the University of Stuttgart, Germany (2007-2008) and a Doctorate Degree from Bauhaus University in Germany (2012 -2015). He is a DAAD Scholar and currently the Interim President of the Returned Alumni Network from Germany.
He is an external examiner of several postgraduate programmes in universities such as the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and Ghana Communication Technology University. He is also a frequent reviewer of journals for several publishers such as Taylor and Francis, Emerald and Wiley. He has previously teamed up with colleagues to win research grants from United Kingdom (DFID), Germany (DAAD) and locally. His general research areas include construction claims culture, cost and time overruns of construction projects, procurement capacity of public agencies, service quality of insurance in complex projects, housing attributes and relative house prices in Ghana and mortgage loan default propensities in Ghana. He has attended and made presentations at several local and international conferences with about twenty-five journal publications to his credit. In the year 2015, his paper was adjudged the best conference paper at the 17th ISERD International Conference in New York.
He is a member of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors with about 20 years of active presence in the construction industry managing some renowned projects in Ghana. He is a highly rated training consultant offering training in the areas of procurement of works and project management.
